The owners of a modest ranch house, approaching retirement, requested a new master bedroom suite on the same level as the existing house. They also wanted a larger kitchen and living area to entertain visiting children and grandchildren.

The design solution creates a new wing along the length of the site, tied to the existing house. The resulting configuration, 2800 square feet of new and renovated space, reorients the house to the rear of the site - maximizing views and allowing access to the private, wooded lot. A round conservatory provides a transition from the living area to the private master bedroom suite. Outside, a terrace, walkway and small reflecting pool tie together the old and new and extend the living space outward.
